I wanted this workout to be a metaphor for life – pick up your burden, press it over your head, march forward.
I wanted the overhead walking lunges of the first workout of the 2016 CrossFit Open to represent my internal struggles as well as the external ones.
I wanted to take another movement I was barely familiar with and use the Open to challenge myself, to overcome an obstacle that seemed insurmountable… and then use that strength inside me.
