My appendages have been taking some abuse lately. First off, fall is in full effect. Temperatures are plummeting and the cold dry air wrecks havoc on exposed skin. I’ve been on my feet more (a good thing!) getting my steps for the Fitbit challenge. At CrossFit, I’ve been working on butterfly pull-ups and double unders. That’s a lot of abuse! How do I take care of my hands? Let me tell you about w.o.d.welder!
First let me give you this week’s recap of my Shape/Men’s Fitness Fitbit Charge Challenge. The challenge this week was to increase my typical training session by 20 minutes to accumulate more steps/distance. Awesome! As a CrossFitter, I knew this would be easy as pumpkin pie (ahh, Thanksgiving, I miss you already) since I usually show up early and stay late to work on technique or my strength training. More on that later. But, I also wanted to take this #MotivationalMondays prompt to run a further distance than I had ever run before.
I went all out. I went lllooonnnggg distance. I ran…
It was a beautiful, sunny, crisp autumn day.
Nothing remarkable happened on my run. I ran my usual three mile route, then I ran the one mile portion an extra time. My achilles started to tighten up on me and that sucked, but as far as cardio… maybe I can go for five next time? Naw, let’s not get too carried away! I’m just not a fan of pure running.
I want to share the sync capabilities of the Fitbit Charge. Here’s a photo of my Fitbit with my camera behaving!
And here is my iPhone app all synced up with my Fitbit. Check out all the info!
Note the miles. Now we’re all set to go get those steps! But first…
Ok ok, running… running… running…
And we’re done! Let’s sync the data while I go ice my achilles. The Fitbit syncs via bluetooth, so the only time I ever need to connect my Fitbit to a cord is when I need to recharge the batteries. Mine goes about am entire week between charges!
Look at all those steps! Disregard the fact that I went slightly less than 4 miles… haha! A Fitbit would make a great gift for anyone this Christmas. Head over to the challenge leaderboard for your chance to win a free one!
Now, speaking of Christmas gifts, check out what I have for you today! Meet w.o.d.welder hand care!
w.o.d.welder, in addition to being a brand that loves the lowercase no spaces name (yes, it’s ifailedfran), is a company born straight out of CrossFit. I exchanged emails with Keegan, the owner of w.o.d.welder and he shares that same passion and drive that CrossFit awakens in people. When he asked if he could send me some product to try and review, I gladly said yes.
The tube on the right is the Solid Salve. This product goes on those lovely calluses we all have. You rub this stick on your hands across your calluses to hydrate them and help repair your skin. Better skin equals less chance for ripping! Oh, and guys, this stuff smells great! Fresh cut Christmas trees have nothing on the pepperminty goodness of this cream!
On the left side is the Hands As Rx cream. This cream counteracts the drying effects of chalk, and the grinding your hands take on the bar, the bells, ropes, your endless pull ups. The cream is a very rich, thick lather that absorbs well.
Check it out, my calluses are already going away! w.o.d.welder is the ideal stocking stuffer for the CrossFitter in your life, or as a great investment in yourself! And look, they carry a handcart kit that has everything you need in it!
You know what’s coming now, right? That’s correct, giveaway time! Keegan has graciously donated not one but TWO w.o.d.welder handcare kits. These kits contain the Salve and Hands As Rx, as well as a natural pumice stone to remove those callus edges to keep them smooth and uniform. This is a $25 value!

To recap, I ran far with my Fitbit and I’m taking great care of my hands with w.o.d.welder. At the rate my butterfly pull-ups are progressing, I might need to invest in another handcare kit! And yes, I asked the question… you can use w.o.d.welder on your feet too!
A big thanks to w.o.d.welder for sponsoring this post and giveaway. For even more giveaways, follow them on Instagram where there are weekly wod challenges. And be sure to follow me for updates on my #MotivationalMondays Fitbit challenge!
