If there is one universal truth in the world, it’s this: women are beautiful.
Women will always rule the world for this simple fact alone. Short women are beautiful. Tall women are beautiful. Blonde, brunette, red… all beautiful.
And yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. When I am the beholder, I find that muscles are beautiful. Strong is beautiful.
Camille Leblanc-Bazinet has muscles. Camille is beautiful.
But someone thought Camille wasn’t “beautiful enough”. Someone thought Camille needed “help” being beautiful.
That someone was wrong.
Camille Leblanc-Bazinet is the reigning Fittest Woman on Earth. She recently won the 2014 CrossFit Games. Every CrossFitter knows who Camille is. She doesn’t need a last name (or two for that matter).
Camille is strong. Camille is fast. She built a commanding lead at the CrossFit Games and had enough room to survive a furious charge on the last day by two-time champ Annie Thorisdottir.
Camille is the cover model on The Box Magazine October issue. The cover looks like this.
…Maybe a little too good?
Don’t get me wrong, Camille has a fantastic stomach. Not in a creepy way or anything, but I’ve seen my share of Camille photos and videos. She has curves… but maybe she’s not quite as curvy as portrayed here…?
In my very much non professional opinion… this photo is not an accurate depiction of Camille. Perhaps it was Photoshopped? Perhaps creative lighting and angles were used? Perhaps I’m totally wrong?
But I don’t think I’m wrong.
Want to see some more photos of Camille?
And she still looks good.
…Those back muscles though!!
And she still looks good.
But all those other photos are very attractive too!
I don’t blame Camille for this. If someone wanted me on the cover of a magazine, I would say yes. If I had to sign a form that said something like ‘photo may be edited for presentability’ or whatever, I would sign.
I blame the fashion industry that still thinks skeletons are sexy, that thicker is sicker, that boobs are everything and that fake is real. I blame the stigma that women (and men) have, that ‘oh I can’t take my shirt off to WOD because my stomach might jiggle’ mindset because of the Cosmos and the Vanity Fairs and the runway shows. I blame these pretentious assholes who have the audacity to think they know what a human being should look like.
They should have used the photo of Camille in the red bikini in the ocean. That’s a beautiful picture. That’s a hot picture. That’s a sexy picture.
That picture is REAL.
We have been given false idols and images of beauty that simply do not exist. I’m so sick of everyone striving for perfection. Fuck perfection.
It’s a CrossFit magazine. They should know better.
You women… you’re beautiful. You’re hot. You’re sexy.
You CrossFit girls, you’re top notch. You runners, you’re delightful. You power lifters and strong women, you’re doing it right. You yogis, please don’t ever stop wearing your yoga pants.
Camille is one of us. She’s the definition of strong is the new sexy. You can’t take her away and Photoshop her into something that fits “your standards”. She doesn’t belong to “your standards”. She is too good for “your standards”.
Camille is the new standard. Get used to it.
