Who here has some sort of 2015 goal/resolution that is fitness related? I see a lot of hands raised out there! Good. This post is for you. I likewise have fitness goals for the year. A goal or resolution generally means doing something that you have not done before, accomplishing the previously unaccomplished. Sometimes that means you need new equipment and gear to help you get where you want to be. Let me introduce you to your one-stop-shop for all your 2015 goal-shattering needs – Fitness Sanctum!
What did I do with this vest? I ran with it on. Yeah… I’m an idiot. But, I have a goal of completing the Murph wod with this bad boy on this year. And if my trial run this weekend was any indication… I am going to need practice!
I ran 3/4 of a mile with the vest on, then a couple more after I threw those extra pounds onto some random person’s lawn. The vest performed great! It did what it was supposed to do – make running even more sucky.
The vest fit quite securely, maybe even too secure. The name of the vest is “no bounce” and it lives up to the name. Breathing was more labored with the vest on, which I know is part of the point. I did loosen the straps a little during the run to give my lungs more room to expand, and that helped while not having the vest bounce much more. Very well made!
Also, the weight of the vest is totally customizable. There are 10 2-lb weight blocks which can be removed to decrease the weight. (Ok, actually there are 10 2-kg blocks, so I ran with 9 blocks for a vest weight of 20 pounds. Those extra 2.2 pounds would’ve made the run suck even more!)
The vest closes easily with velcro. And look how good it looks from the back! (or is that just me…)
I have a few months to practice with my new weighted vest Fitness Sanctum provided me before it’s go time with Murph. If a weighted vest doesn’t interest you, a quick browsing of Fitness Sanctum will surely reveal something that catches your eye.
