A lot of people make the New Year’s resolution to lose weight. I did not. In fact, if I had done anything concerning weight, it would be to gain weight. So far this year, however, I’ve been the biggest loser.
I spent the literal beginning of 2015 (think 2 AM Jan 1.) on the floor of my bathroom, hugging my toilet. Now I’m sure I’m not the only person to ring in the new year this way, but I assure you, this was not alcohol induced.
Like clockwork, my stomach purged itself of contents every half hour until around 11 AM. Yes, that’s 9 hours of vomiting. No, I have no idea how stuff was still coming out of my body, but it did.
I couldn’t sleep because I kept running to the bathroom.
I got so dehydrated my feet and calves cramped up as I was heaving out my guts.
I would break out in a cold sweat each time and would lay on the floor or on the bed shivering.
My abs did get quite a good workout though! (I actually remember having this thought at the time)
The net result of this stomach virus was me ending 2014 in the 183-pound area and beginning 2015 in the 176-pound area. Yeah, I win at dieting.
It’s now Jan 5 and I am yet to step outside my house. I’m still dehydrated and I can’t force myself to eat for the life of me. But so far today is better… I am actually drinking a shake right now and I have enough energy to type this up.
Needless to say, I’ve missed out on a lot of life these past few days and I have a backlog of stuff to do. That means this blog will probably remain dormant for the remained of the week.
So much for trying to post more, huh? BUT, I am sharing more personal stories, so there’s that. =)
I don’t know when I’ll make it back to CrossFit, and when I do if I’ll even wod or I might just move some weight around and test where my strength and stamina has fallen off to. I’m definitely not looking forward to seeing all my 2014 progress evaporated. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
I hope everyone else survived the new year. Y’all stay healthy out there.
