First things first, I’m not going to write a creative or fun intro. This post is going to reveal the direction I’m going to proceed in with this blog. Just click the little button and read the rest of this post… you know what to do.
Sorry for being so lazy back there. I’ll try not to do that again.
I want to say thank you to everyone that reached out and gave me feedback on my recent post dealing with the direction for ifailedfran. Sure, it is my site and I can do whatever I want with it… but it wouldn’t be very much fun without all you awesome readers. There were some of you that had never commented before that took the time to share your opinions, and I’m very grateful for that.
I suck at making decisions. Like literally, I’m the worst. So what did I do? Well, in typical engineer/Chris fashion, I turned to Excel and made a spreadsheet!
I wrote down what I thought ifailedfran is and stands for, things I want to write about and share, goals for what I want my blogging endeavors to look like in a year and then 5 years, and how I can best provide value to you readers.
Then, I evaluated everything. I read your comments and feedback. I reread some old posts. I thought about what made me start this blog in the first place. I thought about who my audience is and what y’all expect from me.
And then, I made some decisions.
The plans as of this very moment do not include a second blog. In the future… perhaps. But not yet. Just this blog, at times, is more work than I can handle. By work, I mean it is a labor of love. But energy is required for one blog; two would take a Herculean effort.
So here’s what I’m going to do.
I’m going to pretty much keep ifailedfran in its current format.
I’m going to keep writing about CrossFit from my perspective. I’m going to apply it to my life outside of the box when applicable and share.
I’m going to write more “how to” posts, posts that will benefit both the new CrossFitter and one with a few scars on their shins/every other body part.
I’m going to add some nutritional information. I doubt I do recipes, because there are SO many other, better places to get some delicious nom noms, plus my food photography skills are worse than awful.
And… I’m going to start a newsletter.
That’s right, it’s email time boys and girls.
I know. I KNOW. Who needs another email? Well… you do.
You can sign up for two email preferences. The first will email you only when I create a special newsletter to share with you special people. The second option is to receive a weekly email with a list of the previous week’s posts for your reading enjoyment in addition to a subscription to the special newsletter.
What’s the special newsletter you ask? Well, in it, I’m going to share more personal, life stories that may or may not have a dang thing to do with CrossFit. Y’all have asked for me to share more of my personal life, and this is the best way to not splatter every intimate detail about myself all over the internet but to those that WANT to know me better and CHOOSE to enter into that relationship with me can do so.
I have nothing to spam you with. I’m not going to email you any crap like that. I promise.
I’ll write personal stories to give you a better insight into ME beyond CrossFit. I won’t write stories totally off the wall, as in I could perhaps fit them in on the blog. But I prefer to blog in a certain style. I prefer a certain length post and a certain rhythm and pace. In my newsletter, I have the freedom to write whatever I want and share it with my friends.
With all that said, you can sign up for my newsletter below. I’m terrible at sales, so I probably did a horrible job at selling you on signing up. But, truth is, I’m not trying to sell anything. If you want to connect more with me, then sign up. If you are perfectly happy with our relationship as-is, don’t. No harm no foul.
I’m happy with this decision and excited to move forward. I’m a human and humans change. I don’t know why I get such anxiety over this blog… I guess it’s because I care about it!
Next time I post, I promise to return to our regularly scheduled programming. I appreciate all the input on this and I think I have made the correct decision. If I haven’t… I guess I’ll change it in the future.
Now, without further ado, sign up for my newsletter!
